How our free introduction service works
Last updated: 13 August 2018
At Experts for Expats we provide an introduction service to a carefully selected group of independent consultants around the world with expertise in tax, financial planning, estate planning, property services, mortgage applications, Wills among many other areas.
We believe these consultants to be the leading experts in their respective field and we’ve conducted due diligence on all of them to ensure that they offer genuinely independent services and can be trusted to provide the highest quality of service.
These people help us create and update the articles on Experts for Expats with the intention of providing as much information as possible to assist people making their decisions.
However, we also believe that it is irresponsible to expect people to use online articles to make decisions about their lives. It is vital that people can have their questions answered by professionals, or receive professional, regulated advice if required.
Since 2012, we have helped over 30,000 people get answers to their questions, as well as providing access to tax and financial services.
We, and consultants from our network, have been featured in BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio, The Guardian, The Times, MailOnline and Saga amongst other publications sharing our expertise across a range of subjects from financial matters to the possible impact of Brexit.
Our offer of a free consultation with an independent expert
The first step of the process is to offer a free consultation with one of the consultants within our network. Once your details are received via one of our forms, one of our team will review your information and select the most suitable consultant or organisation from our network to conduct the consultation with you.
We then advise you of the consultant’s details and ask them to get in touch with you directly. Most of the time this will be via email, but they may also arrange to call at a suitable time to discuss your situation in more detail.
The consultation itself is limited to between 15 and 30 minutes and is designed to answer general questions which will hopefully provide enough information to resolve your situation without any further services being required.
Please be aware that that all the consultants we work with also have fee-paying customers who must take priority, and therefore consultations cannot typically be conducted in the same day. For this reason, we do not recommend using our free introductory service if you are looking for an urgent response.
Fee paying services and how we get paid
In a small percentage of cases, additional services may be required, for example a tax return may need to be completed, or further investigation may be needed. In such cases the consultant will provide information about the services they offer including any potential costs at which point you will be free to decide whether to proceed or not.
There’s no obligation to opt for any paid services at any time, if you say no, your decision will be respected, and you will not be pressured into paying for anything.
For the sake of clarity, we work on a basis that if you decide to proceed with any paid advice or professional services, the consultant or organisation will pay us a small percentage of that fee as an “introductory fee”.
