Our story

Back in 2012, Experts for Expats' founder Robert Hallums saw just how often expats—already facing stressful and complicated financial situations—were having to navigate a minefield of unregulated "advisors" only interested in selling products to pocket commission.

Seeing there wasn't anywhere for expats to find independent, qualified specialists to help with their move abroad, Robert created Experts for Expats. Guided by values of honesty, integrity and accountability, he set out to build a network of trustworthy experts all over the world who shared his vision.

We've worked with our partner network for over a decade now, steadily growing our library of resources, information and services.

Until now, we've been one of the internet's best kept secrets. Our next chapter will see us branching out into more jurisdictions, serving more nationalities and ultimately helping more people around the world to relocate without stress.

I created Experts for Expats in 2012 with the ambition to build a network of trusted partners who shared my values and ethics, who were just as committed as I was to reducing the stress and complexity of financial matters for people living abroad. I strongly believe the only way to be successful in a world increasingly focused on automation, AI and profit is to build genuine, reciprocal relationships. I've worked with Experts for Expats since 2018 and joined the company as Brand & Marketing Director in 2024. I work with our brilliant partners to create events, content and resources which make complex information about tax, finance and visas easy to understand. My goal is for expats all over the world to see us as the go-to place to find trustworthy, jargon-free advice and exceptional specialist services to give them a stress-free move abroad.

Finance & Property Specialist

I'm a UK-based financial advisor, working with clients on investments, pension and financial planning. I'm also a property specialist and have worked in property development and investment. As a former expat, I understand the complexities that can arise when you live and work overseas. I work with Experts for Expats in an advisory role, meeting clients to understand their requirements and working with partners to help find the best solutions.
