Despite being one of the top expat destinations in the world, Singapore still needs to improve the quality and experience of its tourist attractions to grow the tourism industry, according to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Speaking at the Tourism50 Gala Dinner on Friday night, he told leaders of the tourism industry that, despite the numerous world class tourist attractions, a lot more needs to be done if the growth of the tourism industry is to continue – citing investment in facitlities and deepening the engagement with locals as critical factors for success.
As reported in the Straights Times, the Prime Minister said, "To keep Singapore special and to keep the tourists coming, we must grow the tourism industry by raising the quality of the experience and the value of every tourist, rather than solely by increasing the visitor numbers."
Currently being planned are extensions to the Garden’s by the Bay, as well as improvements to The Marina Bay, as well as the introduction of events with global appeal.
